Point Fortin based technology company, Jamar Technology Services, will this week, launch it’s Uber styled Taxi Service App, YOW TAXI, which is initially targeted for Point Fortin residents and persons seeking exclusive Taxi Transportation service throughout Trinidad and Tobago in general. The service is available via website “yowtaxi.com” or smartphone app YOW TAXI which can be downloaded via the Google Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ni.yotaxi

The service can be paid for in-app via internationally secured online payment processor, PayPal, using any major Credit or Debit Card or via online/ direct deposits to Republic or Scotia Banks. The prices listed in the app are quoted in United States Dollars (U$D). For deposits to local banks, a conversion rate of TTD $6.8 to $1 USD will apply. DRIVERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RECEIVE OR SOLICIT ANY MONEY FROM PASSENGERS.

Operations Manager at Jamar, Denzil James, describes the service as an exclusive “Taxi Service” and not necessarily a “rideshare”. He said the service will be utilizing registered Taxis from throughout the island, Tobago included.

“At present, we are not currently focusing on the “shared ride” aspect of the service”, James told Pointalive. He further stated, this is mainly due to research which indicates that the culture within our initial target market may not at this time fully subscribe to such a service. Another factor is the population size. However, we believe there is need for personal transportation services.

“For Airport Pickups, we will not just work with the time our customer provides for their pickup, we will track their flight to determine whether its arriving earlier or delayed. In this way, we can always be there on-time, ready and waiting”,  James said. This will avoid having customers incur any extra charges for delayed flights.

YOW TAXI will not just provide a taxi service. The app caters for person who may need moving services (house to house) general transportation including Barrel Pick-ups at both Point Lisas and Port of Spain Ports and a wrecking service.

When fully launched, the app will also include an international Airline and Hotel Booking module which will enable app users to Book and Pay for Airline Flights and Hotel Accommodation (if needed), directly from within the app.

Though it’s fully functional presently, the app will officially be launched on Friday 17th January 2020. YOW TAXI is the 1st in a series of eight (8) app which will be launched by Jamar Technology Services, between now and March 2020.
