ARE T&T’s 1% BEING BULLIED?
All that I have to say regarding a post circulating on Social Media is this:
Over the past few months and recently especially in political Social Media groups like TV6 Breaking News and others, there have been a lot of anti 1% rants. And, it’s still ongoing..
When food Stores were allowed to remain open, there were a blizzard of anti 1% rants all over SM.
Though the 1% phrase generally refers to a small grouping of business owners. Most times it targets our Syrian community.
These people came here poor and worked darn hard. They built their empire while others did not. We all had the opportunity to do exactly what they did. (Maybe the younger among us may not be aware of the struggles they endured to become who they are today)
Let’s be honest with ourselves. If you were a minority race in a country, providing the most private sector jobs, creating employment for the less accepted by societal educational class,
continually investing in a country etc etc……
But wherever you turn on conventional or social media is negativity against you….
Put yourself in their position…. How would you feel? Regardless of how much money they have, they also are humans and have emotions also.
It has become like an entire nation is against you.
While they know about working hard, they are criticized every day by people who have the belief that maybe because they were born here, they have a certain level of entitlement.
But wakeup, most of these 1 percenters are born right here and just like how our foreparents came here, so did theirs.
From my experience, they are more supportive of local Culture than the main races. Whether it’s at Panorama, Best Village, Carnival they are there supporting. They are involved in local Churches etc.
What has been happening is no less than open bullying by two majority races towards a minority race
There comes a time when enough is enough and the pipe will burst.
Maybe self introspection should be done by those who a always complaining and ask…..
