Its all included in BD Promotions’ 2020 All Inclusive Jouvert Band, “Drunken Sailor”, which will take to the streets of Sobo Village and La Brea on Carnival Monday morning.

Executive producer of BD Promotions, Councillor Gerald Debesette, told Point Alive, this is one of his ways of giving back to his community. He indicated that Carnival in La Brea has suffered over the years, to larger celebrations held in surrounding districts, mainly San Fernando. The economic prospect for would-be band leaders in La Brea is not attractive, therefore, someone had to step up to ensure that Jouvet in La Brea does not die, but most of all, to ensure that residents are given the opportunity to have fun. However, Debesette said although registration is open to the public, particular attention will be given to persons seeking to register, since special efforts will be in place to dismiss disrespect and disorder among band members on the road Jouvert morning.

The band will begin their Jouvert parade from 5:00am when they assemble for breakfast at the Mas Camp, located at JD’s Food Link in Sobo Village, after which they will proceed to, then along the Southern Main Road towards the “Scale”, along the La Brea Stretch, arriving at Point D’Or Junction for a stage masquerade and then making the return trek back to the Mas Camp. The Jouvert is expected to finish at approximately 12:00 noon.

Persons wishing to register can call, Councillor Debesette, (686 4101) or visit the Mas Camp. On Jouvert morning, masqueraders will collect a Sailor’s Hat, T-Shirt, Whistle & Stick. A fully stocked premium drinks bar and lots of food will be available for masqueraders for just $200
